The VA Academy Focus of the Month
Building your business with clarity, confidence, and community.
July Focus: Get Clear Without Pressure to "Pick a Niche"
Goal:
Understand how you help so others can understand too.
Why:
People don't hire the "best VA."
They hire the one they understand quickly.
People cannot hire you if they are confused about what you do. Clarity is kind.
It helps the right people recognize that you can help them.
Clarity creates trust.
Trust creates clients.
You do not need a perfect niche. You simply need a clear starting point.
You can and will refine your niche as you gain experience. Your business will evolve, and that's okay.
Challenge Instructions:
-
Make a "Ways I Help" list
Write down everything you can do or are willing to learn.
-
Identify your strongest areas
Mark:
-
What you enjoy
-
What you're good at
-
What businesses need
Look for overlap.
-
Research real pain points
Pick 3–5 types of businesses and look for phrases like:
-
"I'm overwhelmed with..."
-
"I don't have time for..."
-
"I hate doing..."
Write down exact phrases.
-
Create your elevator pitch
Use:
I help [type of person] with [tasks] so they can [result].
Example:
I help overwhelmed business owners stay organized with inbox management, scheduling, and follow-up so they can focus on what matters most.
-
Share your elevator pitch in the group
You can create one main elevator pitch or several versions that describe different services you offer.
Scripts:
Simple Introduction:
I'm a virtual assistant who helps business owners with the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep everything running.
Prayer Focus:
Pray for clarity and trust.
Ask God to guide your direction.
Ask Him to show you who you are meant to serve.
Release the pressure to figure everything out perfectly.
Momentum Builder:
Reflect:
Review your current clients, services, and favorite projects.
Evaluate:
-
Which services are most profitable?
-
Which services energize you?
-
Which services drain you?
-
What do clients consistently ask you to do?
Implement:
Create or refine a signature service offer.
Share:
Tell the group one thing you learned about your ideal client or service.
Ask yourself:
-
Which services are most profitable?
-
Which services energize me?
-
Which services drain me?
-
What do clients consistently ask me to do?
Update one piece of your marketing or messaging to better reflect your strongest offer.
